1. Subject
This document describes the powers of an artifact know as a Coco macaque. This item was confiscated by Agent Heidi Kroff while on a mission with Team Hopscotch in Florida.
2. Item
This item is described in Haitian foklore as a magic stick that walks by itself. The owner can send it on errands, especially punitive errands. If he hits an enemy with it, the person hit will die before morning.
3. Powers
The Coco macaque are a variation of the well known mage staves used by Bureau 13 and most other magic wielding mortals. The creation of these staves is more complex, requiring a specially prepared wooden staff with special sigils etched into the wood. The staff itself must also be carved to resemble a human form (i.e. face, torso, arms and legs etched into the wood). The staff is then steeped in a specially prepared bath of oils and herbs for 1 week. After the week has passed the staff is removed from the bath and enchanted.
At this point the staff gains the following abilities:
Acts as a WKM battery for storing up to 1.5x the creators WKM maximum
The staff has a permanent "Lift Self" enchantment on it, which is controled by the creator
The staff's "limbs" (arms and legs) can extend away from the main body of the staff itself to grasp items and can carry up to 10 pounds of wieght
Like traditional staves the the Coco macaque staves can discharge into a person who touches the staff without the owners permission, however the discharge is not immediately felt, instead the person is charged with the WKM of the staff. Since most people do not posses magical power the WKM begins to cause damage to the target at the rate of 3 HPT every 10 minutes until a amount of damage has been inflicted equal to the discharged WKMx2.
Unlike traditional staves Coco macaque can be commanded to discharge upon striking a target, creating the same effect as if the target had touched the staff without permission.
Unlike traditional mage staves, Coco macaque staves can be destroyed when recharging.
4. Present Owner
The only Coco macaque known to the Bureau is currently in possession of the Bureau R&D department.
5. Recommended Action
If a team combats a mage wielding one of these staves, use the utmost care in releiving him/her of it and transport it to the Bangor, Maine facility for study.
