GM NOTES

Shreveport, Louisiana

If the agents can get access to the surveillance videos, they will discover that in each tape a fine cloud of smoke is seen drifting under the door of each shop only moments before the cameras are disabled.
If the agents can get into the stores to run Kirlian scans there is a faint aura of magic present in each of the disturbed displays. Also if any agents have acute smell there is a faint aroma of roses in each of the shops that was broken into.
The individual owners of the shops are unable to provide any real help to agents, they are as baffled by the break-ins as the police.
Interviewing the owners of stores listed in the phone book before the one that have been broken into will eventually give the agents a link.
Each store has been visited (in the same order of their phone book listings) by a short, European man who was searching for a pocket watch. Clerks at the stores that were not broken will recall the man if questioned properly.
Each clerk will give the same description: 5 foot 3 or 4 inches, approx. 120 pounds, white hair, dark blue eyes approx 50 years old with an odd accent. Several will recall that the man smelled of roses.

Whats Really Going On: The man goes by the name of Rafael Saphoneli and he is an elf who is under a curse placed upon him 40 years ago. In 1960 he found himself being attacked by a thief who had picked his pocket, stealing his favorite pocket-watch. Saphoneli fought back and stabbed the thief through the chest with a knife he carried for personal protection. As the pickpocket lay dying, he announced to Saphoneli that he was cursing the elf "to die if that watch ever runs down". Although he scoffed at the time, Saphoneli later discovered that he had indeed been cursed, and the curse was a powerful one. Unable to break the curse, Saphoneli has maintained the watch in perfect condition ever since, until 3 days ago when he was mugged.
Now in fear of his life he is conducting a desperate hunt for the mugger and/or the watch, he is systematically searching the shops day and night.
If the agents can catch Saphoneli they may be persuaded to help him in his search. The watch was sold to the Union Gold and Gun shop (known for less than reputable deals). And will wind down by the end of the night.
If the agents can help Saphonlei he will be extremely grateful, if they can help him break the curse he will be even more grateful and may even join the Bureau for a time.
