The Outpost
The Outpost is a small domed spaceport constructed several years ago on a lonely planetoid that lies between a rock and a hard place, literally. The planetoid has no name and is caught in a tidal lock between the red giant star known as PSS-17 (Palen Spacial System unnamed #17) and a medium size black hole.
The planetoid has somehow managed to stay in the perfect position between the two gravity wells, at least for now. Based on physics and the fact that the star loses a little more mass to the black hole when solr flares pull far enough away to be draw in, the planetoid has a very limited lifespan. Estimates range from a 5 to 100 years before the hole wins the tug of war and the planetoid shatters under the stress.
In the meantime the Gray Order fugitive Ohmar DeMalle constructed a simple port just over the nightside temrinator on the planetoid. this keeps the port from being flash-fried when the planet is struck by flares draw to the hole (which happens regularly). The dome has few amenities but the air is clean and the radiation is blocked out and above all the Outpost is secret and safe. The pirates who frequent the illegal port keep its location well protected and even if the authories do find out about it, the only way to reach it is via a small gravity-trench where the forces of the star and the hole cancel each other out. This trench is small and shifts constantly, making it difficult for any ship larger than a medium sized transport to navigate (DC 30 pilot check for medium size ships, -3 for each size category smaller) as well as preventing anyone from jumping in close via hyperdrive. Travelling the tranch takes 3 hours at cruising speed and anyone entering the trench will be detected by small bouys that are place regularly along its length.
The Outpost is powered by an underground fusion reactor but requires that all other neccessities be imported. Normally this is handled by Ohmar's droids who make monthly runs to various supply centers.

In case of emergency droids keep the peace although Jereth doubles as the local “sheriff” in exchange for a flat fee rent (500 month) and no commission to Ohmar.
The Outpost is (or rather was) wholly owned and operated by Ohmar DeMalle.
He allowed the denizens to rent space from him as well as buy from his warehouse (typically for 1.25x the list price). The shopkeepers are free to buy from visitors or go outside the Outpost for inventory but Ohmar charged a 25% commission on sales of anything purchased outside his warehouse.
Keeping the place supplied with air and water runs Ohmar 10,000 credits per month plus the Outpost is maintained by droids that require another 2000 credits per month worth of supplies to maintain the base.
Pirates and smugglers keep the outpost alive and healthy, they bring in goods they wish to unload and Ohmar buys at 50-150% of list prices depending on the items usefulness, ease of turnaround and rarity.
They also bring credits.
The hotel offers both simple and luxury rooms at 50 and 150 credits per night and has 48 simple rooms spread across the 2nd and 3rd floors and 8 luxury rooms on each of the 4th and 5th floors. There is an underground level which has 48 very small rooms that are issued to resident shopkeepers and employees as part of the deal
The Casino offers entertainments of all kinds and the Outpost Bar is the single most popular spot on the base, its droid bartender can mix anything and a first time visitor can order anything up to 100 credits in cost for his first drink.
